Chevening 2024-2025

I am Hortensia Hosnah, a conservation professional from in Diego-Suarez, with over ten years of expertise in biodiversity conservation, particularly in the management of protected areas. My work centres on safeguarding ecosystems while fostering inclusive, community-based approaches that enhance sustainable livelihoods. A Chevening Scholar awarded in 2024, I completed a 12-month MSc in Conservation Leadership at the University of the West of England in Bristol, UK. This experience deepened my knowledge in conservation governance, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement within complex socio-ecological systems. I am dedicated to promoting ethical conservation that honours both local communities and biodiversity. Additionally, I strive to develop sustainable business models that align economic opportunities with conservation goals. My aim is to contribute to innovative, locally grounded solutions that ensure long-term environmental sustainability and resilience in Madagascar and beyond. “We do not have a second planet to live on.
